Now. This is the time. To take care of yourself, to send love to your body-mind-soul system, now is the time to get to know yourself in the deepest way possible. This is the way I know to allow yourself the life you have always wanted. Contacting your innermost self is now my daily routine and I personally think that this is the most beautiful way to fulfill your life. It takes courage, it takes some work and some passion, but once you are there you can only find a deep source of Love and Peace as everything else will dissolve, day by day, stroke after stroke, breath after breath.
Love Your~Self... It is all about attitude...It is about the attitude. A self love and forgiveness attitude can help greatly many situations. I see many women, luckily, in this period and all I can see is beauty, courage, strength... yet during theintake it is very clear that their perception is completely something else. Lack of self love, self esteem and a big huge sense of guilt for the so many various experiences they have been through. It is amazing then, witnessing them blossoming after few sessions of Arvigo Techniques of Maya Abdominal Therapy and after some weeks of Self Care.
I ask them to give it a chance and courageously they take this wonderful opportunity of entering in their innermost space with a deep feeling of love and they decide to be in charge of their own deepest feelings and experiences. Their attitude towards their body changes and they can feel all the love that is there, in store for them. It takes a little time, it takes a little courage and a little effort, but the results are so amazing to see that, every time, live me in a deep bliss. That is my motivation to carry on bringing women into their selves. I had been a doula and it is a privilege I am eternally grateful for, as you can witness a very special moment of deep love, sharing, understanding and surrendering... this is what I feel when a woman is in love with herself, it is like she is remembering who she is and she become unstoppable, she becomes a wonderful version of herself and, no matter what age, status, color or religion, it is a miracle. I am super sure that this happens to men too, I am sure that when we really start touching with love and care our innermost parts then miracles can really happens and I am really grateful to be able to assist to some of them. Thank you for letting me experience this beauty as every woman is so so beautiful, when she is in love, with her self.
Love Your~Body... Menses and Life...Cycles and Opportunities... Many women approach a therapy like Arvigo® after several years of struggle and pain. Many of them think that pain and struggle is part of the deal, therefore they accept to take a day of a month, if not more, to let the pain go. Sometimes this struggle starts even before the menses, with big mood swings, anger, fragility followed by a deep sense of guilt towards the person that was supporting most.
There are ways though to take care of these difficult moments and there are ways to understand what is going on. A part from a very holistic approach offered by the Arvigo Techniques, (therapy, Self Care and Supportive Modalities) I very much appreciate the work of Alexandra Pope, she wrote many books worth it to read, as she has a very practical and effective approach to the women/moon cycle. I am going to share some parts of an interview I found inspirational.
"In the first half of the cycle after menstruation and leading up to ovulation, women have this expansive energy that carries them out into the world. This is a high energy time of being super productive, sociable, and feeling really good. In the second half of the cycle, after ovulation, that process reverses again as a woman gradually withdraws and turns inwards once more. Women can feel overloaded here as her natural focus is to become quiet and more tuned into her inner feelings and this increases the closer she gets to menstruation which is why its important not have too much stimulation going on in this part of the cycle.
What do you say to the women who dread their periods because of problems such as PMS, period pain and so on. What can they do to help themselves ?
Restoring knowledge about the power of the cycle is the first remedy. In many ways women are suffering because of the hideous cultural message that the menstrual cycle is irrelevant and the lack of honouring of what is going on for women in their cycle. Their suffering is the fallout of the loss of the powerful creative and spiritual knowledge that is locked in the menstrual cycle process. Starting to restore this knowledge even in the most basic and simple way can start to change things often in quite a radical way for a woman. Then she is able to manage stress and energies better, and feels more dignity and self-respect; and there is no more powerful medicine. She starts to have more authority to assert her needs to do whatever she needs to do on a very practical level to heal her health such as diet, rest and so on. This is vital for a woman to be in good health...
The first thing I explain to women is that we are seasonal beings as are men. We can all relate to the change of the outer seasons: autumn shifting into the dark of winter etc. The seasons changing bring up all sorts of feelings, we experience ourselves differently in different seasons and it is no different with the menstrual cycle where we could say we have seasons built into our body.
Our pre-ovulatory time is our inner Spring which takes us out into the world again after the quiet time of menstruation. The power of the inner Spring is a lovely natural motivation, a fresh beginning, full of natural focus and optimism, a sort of willingness to go out and try things again. It’s a beautiful feeling like our spirit is young again, any cynicism or bitterness that we may have had coming into the winter of our menstruation has melted away and we feel ‘oh maybe life is okay after all.’
Then we come into our Summer, our ovulatory time when we have this easy, harmonious energy where we can be all things to all people, like Superwoman. Everyone loves you as your energies at this time are about bringing harmony and doing everything for everybody. It’s a very high energy time and you really get stuff done; it’s very productive: you’re out there, you’re going for it and you’re magnetic.
You generally feel your most gorgeous at this time of the cycle and its partly because your emotional life and your own needs are nicely quiet and packed away so we can attend to other peoples needs. A woman can really show herself and strut herself at this time in her cycle. It feels fabulous but funnily enough when I say to women on workshops imagine being like this all the time they all crack up and say ‘Oh my god it would be awful, it would be a nightmare I’d be completely exhausted.’
After our glorious Summer there is the agonizing moment where we cross from our inner Summer to our inner Autumn and often women wobble at this point which is quite normal as your spirit is negotiating from being super ‘ out there’ to now having to come back in into a deeper intimacy with yourself and your emotional life.
A lot of premenstrual suffering is because a woman is not aware of and therefore not cooperating with the natural impulse to pull in but this natural impulse to pull in is not a limitation or a weakness; you are transitioning into a deeper connection to your self and that means you start to wake up to things you might have been repressing or ignoring
The Autumn phase of our cycle has many powers to it and one is what I call ‘the great reality check moment’; if you find this premenstrual time very difficult it is because your psyche is telling you something; either you are out of sync with something in your life or you are doing too much for others which is often the case. This is your readjustment moment and the energies are very powerful at this time as the Autumn energies are about being the truth speaker.
All women become more permeable, sensitive and intuitive at this time of the cycle. Do not waste this energy, it can really cut to the chase. You shoot from the hip at this time and if you are aligned with this energy people will sit up and listen though they may not like it. Don’t expect to be loved in this part of the cycle as here you are potentially a provocateur and if you don’t use this energy consciously at this time it will come out unconsciously as PMS.
In this Autumn of your cycle you need to be disciplined with your self- care practices (n.d.r. Arvigo Therapy is really much focused on the Self Care routine); its crucial to rest and eat well, don’t let your blood sugar get low at this point and be careful with alcohol as you can’t tolerate it in the same way as you approach menstruation.
So in Autumn you start to turn into yourself and become more tuned into your inner feelings which is why you can feel overload here and this increases the closer you get to menstruation which is why its important not have too much stimulation going on.
Menstruation itself is our inner Winter; just as in wintertime you want to cosy up to the fire and you don’t really feel like putting on your high heels and going partying; at menstruation we have that same impulse to retreat, to be more quiet and still. It is the classic retreat time; it’s like our inner temple where we give over to the sacred within ourselves. If a woman pays attention she will notice she has an inner impulse to down tools anything between 2 hours and 2 days before bleeding.
And when a woman feels it she should name it for herself as it’s the moment when you should say ok I’m off to the red tent or the menstrual temple however you want to put it. It’s a pyschological necessity in us and the big question of course is how do we handle this in our busy lives? Even just being aware that menstruation is the moment for retreat makes a huge difference. Retreat is all about rest, repair and renewal and if we do this at menstruation we can enter an expanded consciousness that allows us to feel the spiritual worlds and so it is really like us stepping into our inner church.
Menstruation is the sleep moment, the moment to rest. If women are going to get any message from this interview I would love them to validate this experience for themselves and to listen to their body instead of being tyrannised by this ridiculous idea that you have to be Superwoman, totally productive, out there and gorgeous 24/7; this is part of the pathology of patriarchy and it is messing both women and men up."
Love Your~LearningsMirjam and her Self Care experience ;)In March of this year I attended the first Arvigo Abdominal Self Care workshop held in the
Netherlands. I've been longing to do this workshop for a few years now, but going to England was simply not possible for me.
As a (pregnancy) massage therapist my interest and focus on the womb and abdominal area was always there. I followed several workshops on belly massage and found everything very useful. Only this workshop was something else... This workshop I was focussing on ME, my owm experience as a woman, the relationship with MY womb, MY sensitivity, My fears, MY joys... I realized how much I care and take care of other women and how little attention and time I spend on myself, my needs, my rest and my nourishment. It made me sad and happy at the same time. Sad because I had neglected myself big time, happy because I finally found a way to nurture myself. It's been 2 months since the workshop and every evening before going to sleep, I take the time to do my Self Care. It helped me already so much in regulating my cycle and abdominal wellbeing. It helped me in appreciating myself and my body, and my womb in particular! I can honestly say I am happy to be me and I even start to love myself!
Louise and Gloria welcomed us in a warm bath. They are loving, caring, funny and very wise women. I am grateful for these 3 amazing days that put me on the right track of nourishing myself. A big thank you. Much love, Mirjam
This Self Care Workshop covers: A brief history of the lineage and Dr Rosita Arvigo; basic anatomy and physiology of the abdominal and reproductive organs; the causes and symptoms of shifted organs; simple information on diet; spiritual and emotional health; demonstration and practice of the self care technique. Dear Gloria,This time I am going to tell you a story of a lovely lady that I met this summer and her experiences with fibroids. She desires to remain anonymous, it is, in fact, a very intimate path. If you also desire to talk about your experiences around your belly, you are most certainly welcome! Click here and write! Thank you for sharing.
Love Your~Self... A little insight!Clients and students have always been my best teachers (and I have wonderful teachers!!!), last week an amazing woman opened my eyes on our waste, one of the biggest problem we have to deal with, as human beings, is, in fact, the waste that we produce, we do not really want to deal with waste, with the dark side, with pain, death or sickness and these things are screaming their lungs out in order for us to see... and the link for me has been quite simple, there is also our personal waste that we produce every day, how do we deal with it? How do we deal with our not so pleasant sides? In my everyday belly practice I have learned how much is important to really love and care about our physiological waste, it is one of the most important indicator of our physical wellness but also out emotional and psychological status.
Love Your~WombA lovely client's story - taking care of fibroids. Some years ago, in fact many years ago, I found out I had fibroids growing in the wall of my uterus. Being in the Netherlands where people including doctors can be blunt the avenue that was offered to me at first was to get a hysterectomy. Now there is nothing wrong with a hysterectomy when it is needed, but there are ways to tell a woman in her mid-30’s without children. Moreover, it bothered me that not alternatives were given.
My life moved on, I didn’t really have a great deal of problems due to the fibroids so I chose to live with them and continued to see my acupuncturist and homeopath. In my early 40’s however, some side effects started to pop up; very heavy menses and the need to go to the ladies room often. My relationship with my uterus and cycle got confused; I no longer embraced it as I had in the past. I felt ‘heavy’ in the belly.
I continued my alternative therapies but also went to a new gynecologist who showed some humanity. Even though I was in my early 40’s she understood I was emotionally still very connected to my uterus. And she offered me different solutions.
Right around this time I met Gloria and we started Arvigo Technique therapy. We went on a little journey together, Gloria doing her amazing work whilst I was getting reconnected with my cycle and most importantly deeply connected to my uterus. This allowed me to release energy that was stuck in the uterus.
Like a good student I also did a great deal of self-care at home, castor oil packs and saw a therapist to further release the emotions contained in the fibroids.
Since all this, I have been operated on, with a big vertical incision from belly botton to pubic bone and the fibroids have been removed. The doctors and nurses were to a certain extend surprised at my speedy recovery to date. They also were surprised at how little pain I have felt.
I think I know the secret though: ‘I was ready for the surgery’.
It has been a journey, and I am still on it. I plan to resume my sessions with Gloria once the wound has healed and continue to explore the deep connection I have developed with my uterus, as I am convinced this is key for my recovery and keeping myself tip top.
Love Your~GutsThe Brain~Gut connection...
The most important achievement I have accomplished in these 2 past years is definitely my good mood. I used to be quite depressed and sad, also angry sometimes, things that now are rarely occupying my days, and generally one of the causes of this change is that I do apply every day Self Care on myself (and I visit a collogue as much as I can). The way our intestine works is very much connected to our thoughts and feelings.
'Given how closely the gut and brain interact, it becomes easier to understand why you might feel nauseated before giving a presentation, or feel intestinal pain during times of stress. That doesn’t mean, however, that functional gastrointestinal illnesses are imagined or “all in your head.” Psychology combines with physical factors to cause pain and other bowel symptoms. Psychosocial factors influence the actual physiology of the gut, as well as symptoms. In other words, stress (or depression or other psychological factors) can affect movement and contractions of the GI tract, cause inflammation, or make you more susceptible to infection.
In addition, research suggests that some people with functional GI disorders perceive pain more acutely than other people do because their brains do not properly regulate pain signals from the GI tract. Stress can make the existing pain seem even worse.' (Harvard Educational Website).
In this interesting article, the writer also mention that, often, a psychological therapy can bring a great contribution to our belly health, and I totally agree with it; but you can also achieve great psychological and emotional results working directly on your belly, with nice treatments, Self Care, Castor Oil Pack, Rainforest Remedies and amongst other things loving every cell of your being. Bringing love into your gut is, I think, one of the most important goal we can achieve and if we can do it, and many more people can do it, than our relationship with the internal and external world can really change.
As doula my motto use to be Ibu Robin Lim's one 'Bring Peace One Mother and One Baby at the Time', now my motto and my goal is 'Bring Love One Belly at the Time', with all my love to Robin.
Love Your~LearningsSelf Care: a precious tool to take really good care of yourself... and a first step towards the Professional Workshop!Lot's of people are very interesting in this Self Care Technique, ensure your place!!!

A ATMAT treatment involves abdominal and lower back massage, focusing on aligning reproductive and abdominal organs. There is also instruction on Self Care techniques that individuals can apply at home, as well as recommendations for herbal remedies and naturopathic techniques were appropriate to improve treatment outcome.
"We are finding that about 30% of female infertility is due to a misplaced uterus which can be corrected," says Arvigo.
Why should I choose Arvigo Abdominal Therapy?
This technique is highly focused on the positioning of the uterus. The ancient Maya culture believed that the position of the uterus is vital to pelvic health. If it is out of position, women can experience problems such as pelvic and menstrual pain, frequent urination, bladder problems, painful intercourse, adhesions, chronic cystitis, and problems conceiving to name a few.
Normally the uterus leans slightly over the bladder in the centre of the pelvis, about one and a half inches above the pubic bone. It is held in this position by muscles, the vaginal wall and ligaments that attach it to the front, back, and sides of the pelvis. Uterine ligaments are made to stretch to accommodate a growing foetus inside and to move freely when the bladder or bowel is full.
The ligaments and muscles can weaken and loosen, causing the uterus to fall downward, forward, backward or to either side. Injury to the sacrum from a fall, car accidents, high impact exercise, running on cement surfaces, high impact aerobics and lifting and carrying heavy objects before or during menstruation and too soon after childbirth can all be causes of a misplaced uterus.
Women can then experience numerous physical and emotional symptoms that can be addressed and prevented with these simple, non invasive massage techniques. The emphasis is on helping the body heal itself and to empower the client. The client becomes actively involved in their healing process. Each client is shown how to perform their self care; this helps create a closer connection with the body. It is more than just a massage, patients also receive lifestyle and nutritional advice.
The Arvigo Techniques of Maya Abdominal Therapy® works not only on a psychological level, but also on the emotional and spiritual aspect. Even women, who do not have gynecological problems as such, find that the work is greatly beneficial as it can help them to get in touch with their sense of womanhood.
I am going to share my experience, so you can see why I highly recommend ATMAT, as practitioner, as client, as lover, as whatever, just do it!
It was february 2012 - almost Valentine's Day - my husband was called from a company in Florida for a job. He managed to get my flight and hotel payed for, because we might had had to move, therefore I needed to be on board too. The company placed us in Delray Beach, in a very nice hotel on the beach. Before leaving from Italy to the States I contacted Barbara Harper - I was a birth counselor at that moment and she is one of my female heroes. She was not there at that moment but she put me in contact with Lisa Kelly and we organized a doulas gathering. I met Lisa the day after I landed in the Palms Country and we bonded immediately, so much that she offered me a treatment... cool I thought, gonna have a relaxing morning tomorrow! She gave me 6 pages to fill, with all sort of questions about my digestion and reproductive health. It took me a lot of time to do my homework but was actually very cathartic and I enjoyed to dig deeply into my health.
The next morning I received a Castor Oil Pack, an Arvigo Treatment and the cherry on top a great V Steam! My mind was literally blowing away and my body flying... What did just happen to me???
We came home, in Italy back than, and my menstruation was totally changed, no pain, no dark thick blood, just pink easy nice menses. I needed to know more, but I couldn't find nobody near by. For the last years part of my work had been inviting super teacher from all over the wold, organize workshop and translate them. So I though I could do something to get some Arvigo Practitioner in my country.... I contacted the first teacher that came up in Europe, Louise Crockart and with Hilary Lewin we gave the first Self Care Arvigo Workshop in Italy.
I was so excited that I decided to become a practitioner myself, but in November 2013 my husband and I were moving to the Netherlands so I was not too sure. In the end I moved and after 2 weeks I was in London to attend the workshop, the PCT. I decided to really go for it and back home I already had 2 clients from the Arvigo, they were in NL and nobody was practicing it, so they were waiting for me to come... From that moment on I am blessed because I am doing the best job possible for me, I can put in contact women with their womb and see their body blossoming and getting back their power and their strength.
We organized another Self Care in Italy and this november we are going to have the first PCT in Italy, but it is time to bring ATMAT in the Netherlands and this is my next step!
And here we are:

As an Arvigo Therapist there is one fundamental concept that I really want to share with all the people that I meet: first give yourself a nice loving treatment. In our world it means a very specific routine that helps greatly to improve our digestive and reproductive well balance, but for me and my followers it is now so much more than a massage routine, in fact it is a way for contacting yourself everyday and ask your most inner voice 'hey, how are you doing down there?'. So what I wish you, for the 2015, is to find that voice and keep on talking to her with great love and compassion, the more you will do it, the more your life will become easy and full of joy because you will choose every step of the way with your inner voice, with your most intimate heart.
Give all the presents that you desire to your loved ones, but, please, include yourself in your loved ones, if you really need something, and you didn't give yourself the permission of getting it (whatever 'IT' is) NOW is the time for you to fulfill your wish.
I want to close this Newsletter with a little song we generally sing in Loving The Mother Retreats:
'All I ask of you, is forever to remember me as Loving You'.
Love and Blessings To YOU and Your LOVED ONES!
One of the more compelling health benefits, if true, is castor oil’s support of your immune system. And this healing property does not require you ingest the oil, but only apply it externally.
The benefits of castor oil packs were popularized by the late psychic healer Edgar Cayce, and then later researched by primary care physician William McGarey of Phoenix, Arizona, a follower of Cayce’s work and the author of The Oil That Heals. McGarey reported that, when used properly, castor oil packs improve the function of your thymus gland and other components of your immune system. More specifically, he found in two separate studies that patients using abdominal castor oil packs had significant increases in lymphocyte production compared to placebo packs.
Lymphocytes are your immune system’s disease-fighting cells and are produced and stored mainly in your lymphatic tissuexvii(thymus gland, spleen, and lymph nodes). Hundreds of miles of lymphatic tubules allow waste to be collected from your tissues and transported to your blood for elimination, a process referred to as lymphatic drainage. When your lymphatic system is not working properly, waste and toxins can build up and make you sick.
Lymphatic congestion is a major factor leading to inflammation and disease.
This is where castor oil comes in. When castor oil is absorbed through your skin (according to Cayce and McGarey), your lymphocyte count increases. Increased lymphocytes speed up the removal of toxins from your tissues, which promotes healing.
In addition, castor oil packs have been touted as an effective treatment for a number of maladies. Dr. Julie Hara explains in Greenster: Naturopathically, castor oil is used to decrease inflammation and to help the liver to function optimally. It increases circulation of blood and lymph, enhances the immune system, improves elimination of toxic substances, and promotes the healing of tissues. Due to these effects, it can be used to decrease pain, improve digestion, and help in the treatment of many conditions including uterine fibroids, non-malignant ovarian cysts, headaches, migraines, constipation, intestinal disorders, and gallbladder and liver conditions.
Your Happiness is in Your Gut! How to keep the flow of your happy hormones ;)How many times you have been told not to search for your happiness outside, in fact to deeply search for it inside yourself? I personally have never guessed though that inside would have meant 'look in your gut'... in my life I have been looking for happiness everywhere, I have studied so much, went to all sort of therapies, from bodywork to deep meditation... of course everything had made me the person I am now, and I am very happy about all that I have done and studied, but that feeling of deep contentment was not really there... Even if apparently the life of some people seems perfect, deep down not many people can claim to be really satisfied, in fact that deep state of 'mind' is something beyond any appearance. Than I received my first Arvigo treatment, I participate to a Self Care Workshop, and I became an Arvigo Practitioner and finally in a little time I started feeling happier... and made some major changes in my life that were waiting and waiting forever... what made me so strong and satisfied to just move change whatever I didn't like in my life? Well the answer is in my gut! As well is in yours! Many cultures have a deep knowledge about the importance of keeping your digestion healthy and many teachers talks about the gut as the 'Second Brain' but now there are many researches and several books that are deeply describing the importance of your intestine in order to keep yourself healthy and happy.
Here some bits of an interesting article ( you can find clicking here ) that is explaining how our 'second brain' can generate a complete different scenario in our life:
"A deeper understanding of this mass of neural tissue, filled with important neurotransmitters, is revealing that it does much more than merely handle digestion or inflict the occasional nervous pang. The little brain in our innards, in connection with the big one in our skulls, partly determines our mental state and plays key roles in certain diseases throughout the body.
...Technically known as the enteric nervous system, the second brain consists of sheaths of neurons embedded in the walls of the long tube of our gut, or alimentary canal, which measures about nine meters end to end from the esophagus to the anus. The second brain contains some 100 million neurons, more than in either the spinal cord or the peripheral nervous system, Gershon says. This multitude of neurons in the enteric nervous system enables us to "feel" the inner world of our gut and its contents.
... For example, scientists were shocked to learn that about 90 percent of the fibers in the primary visceral nerve, the vagus, carry information from the gut to the brain and not the other way around.
...The second brain informs our state of mind in other more obscure ways, as well. "A big part of our emotions are probably influenced by the nerves in our gut," Mayer says. Butterflies in the stomach—signaling in the gut as part of our physiological stress response, Gershon says—is but one example... The enteric nervous system uses more than 30 neurotransmitters, just like the brain, and in fact 95 percent of the body's serotonin is found in the bowels...Scientists are learning that the serotonin made by the enteric nervous system might also play a role in more surprising diseases...".
As simple as that, take care of your digestive system in order to feel happy in your shoes and than do anything else to make your life wonderful, starting from the beginning, from yourself. The Arvigo Technique of Maya Abdominal Therapy
is a wonderful way to keep your digestive system functioning, and now we now, this can make your life happier, if not preventing important symptoms. If you want to know more please contact me!
Just woke up from a dream, Rosita Arvigo was there, talking to me about how much is important to embrace yourself, every aspect of yourself, even the one that you cannot really stand, because that's the way, the only way you can blossom. The dream was so vivid that when I woke up I had to take some minutes to realize that I was not in Belize but in my own bedroom. But this is exactly the message that the pleasant abdominal Self Care treatment is giving you every time you apply it to your self. The Self Care is working on your abdomen in multiple ways, the first very tangible level is the physical one and that is very easy to feel. You are basically relaxing the diaphragm, bringing all the life force to your pelvis, you are cleaning it and you are enhancing the power of your intestine to absorb the goods from your food and let go of what you don't need in your system. Not to mention the fact that nourishing all the tissues you are contributing to the health of your ligaments therefore you are helping repositioning or maintaining in the right position your uterus.
But there is more. We know now that the emotions tend to be stored in your abdomen, some of them are very easy to release, some others are there forever and sometimes you cannot even remember what is there, but you might suffer from some abdominal pain and you cannot figure out where does it come from... probably some experience that you rather would love to remove, is there, stuck, in the form of a contraction or a pain. So think for a moment if you could help yourself, gently, removing all the emotions stored in your abdomen... every time you work with Self Care you are helping the first 3 chakras to flow and open up.
But there is more. We are specular, so above as below, our belly is actually consider our second brain. 'Digestion, of all the bodily functions, in the one which exercise the greatest influence on the mental state of the individual' (Jean Antheme Brillat-Savarin). Have you ever notice how little can you produce after a fatty, abundant, sugary meal? The thoughts are slow and you feel like you'd rather lay on the couch instead of doing anything else.
But there is more. If your belly is working fine, all the symptoms that are bothering you are gone, if your energy is free of flowing, your first chakra is well connected to the Earth and the Roots, if your emotions and your second chakra are working in harmony and there is space for new projects/kids/lovers/experiences to look forward to, if your third chakra and your opinion about yourself are great and well balance... how would you feel?
The Arvigo Techniques definitely taught me to really embrace myself and the great thing is that you start to take good care of yourself. If you are a practitioner, you really need to first do your Self Care.
There are 2 ways of learning the Self Care:
1. During the first session with your practitioner, you will be taught the Self Care because it is very important to us that you keep on working with yourself in between the sessions. 3 sessions are generally recommended for reaching a good balance, if you are in a special moment of your life dealing with PMS, 'infertility', menopause, and much more symptoms, also men are really happy about this treatment, than you can help yourself keeping your abdomen relaxed and in well balance so your sessions with your practitioner will be way more advantageous. You will learn also many supportive modalities that your practitioner will suggest according to your needs.
2. You can participate to a Self Care workshop, there are many all over the world, and we are going to have the first edition in The Netherlands in March! The workshop is also one of the steps to become a practitioner. It is a very nice Self Care full immersion in which you will learn a lot about your abdomen and how you can help yourself.
Self Care should be taught at school, should be a practice that every mother and daughter share together, there is so much more to know about your health and the health of your reproductive and digestive system. I see many women in my practice struggling every day with all sorts of symptoms, we can do a lot to help, we can take care of ourself, we can share with our friends, we can blossom in our life, we just need to take in charge our own body/mind/emotion system.
In many traditions you can see women wearing quite wide tissue belt. Studying the Arvigo Therapy I discovered that they are not only ornamental, they actually have a great function in a woman's life. The Uterus needs to move and grow up, not only when a pregnancy is there but during every cycle she grows up in size and weight. As you can read in a previous article the womb is kept in position by sets of ligaments and the fascia. Every time the uterus needs to grow in order to allow the cycle to happen or a pregnancy, the all structure need to stretch and make room for her.
During a monthly cycle the uterus presents a bigger size and weight right before the moon happens, we talk about 5 days prior menses. During those days it would be better not to carry heavy weight, run on hard surface, exercise too much or do anything that stress a structure that is already under stress. If we need to carry on with our lives though, for example I have to treat a person in my practice, we can use a 'faja' that is basically a hip wide, quite long, cotton belt. Using the Faja you give more support to your abdomen and there fore all the structure is relieved from the stress that is already experiencing from the press ion within.
In many tradition they also use it after birth and you can also see another version of it in the picture above.
Personally in the time before my moon, if I have to go to the supermarket or treating a client, I always put my faja on to feel better and relaxed. You can also wear it all day under your clothes, but every now and than it is better to release it and to apply the Self Care or at least leave the circulation move for a bit.
If you want to know more about it please write us.
Your ATMAT practitioner will teach you how to make it and to wear it. It can become a fashionable accessory indispensable in your wardrobe!
Working on women, mainly, we always finish to talk about uterus and pelvis 80% of the time, but sometimes some men wants to try my sessions and definitely the argument change! This time a dear friend was really interested about the digestive system and how ATMAT can work on it, so I thought it was really good to change subject for this newsletter!
Digestion is a very complex process, like any other process in our body, is perfectly made to serve us the best way possible. Basically is the mechanical and chemical process that transform the food in such a way that we can absorb the nutrients. The big molecules of any food is transformed to become a way smaller one. To accomplish this great work there are 3 different phases:
- The first one starts in your brain, the idea, the sight, the smell, the sound of the food stimulate saliva and gastric juices that start being secreted.
- The second phase takes place in the stomach, that become bigger in order to contain all the food. The chemical juices contained in this important organ break down the food giving it the consistence of a liquid matter. Food can remain in your stomach from 2 to 12 hours according to what is your diet.
- The last passage is in your intestine. The food that is now a liquid juice can be finally absorbed by the small intestine, meantime the water and the minerals are absorbed in the last part that is called colon. What is no longer useful will excreted via the rectum.
From the first to the second phase the food pass by a tube called esophagus, as you can see in the image the esophagus pass by the diaphragm, which is a dome shape muscle that divides the pelvis organ from the ribcage ones.
When we are very stress out, the diaphragm is contracted and the esophagus become squeezed. Some people needs to eat more, when stress is there, in order to force this parachute muscle to relax or, sometimes, the appetite seems to be gone (not in my case!!!!).
When we apply the upper abdomen ATMAT massage we are relaxing the diaphragm 'causing' a better transit of the food and than a better digestion. When we apply the intestine massage we help the transit of our transformed food, allowing a better transfer of the nutrients.
One reason that many of us are not at a healthy weight is because this great system have some blockage in the communication with ourself. We know now that all the emotions are stored in our abdomen, it is than easy to understand why digestion is not always working the way it should, causing all sorts of symptoms. If you'd like to know more find an ATMAT practitioner, she/he will treat you and teach you how to do your self care at home, plus a number of supportive modalities to get your digestion back on track !

A couple of tips for helping your digestion:
• Try not to drink too much liquids while eating, this can dilute your stomach juices.
• If you are stressed or in an emotional moment, try to calm down before eating. The stress take the blood away from the stomach making your digestion more difficult!
• If you eat meat, limit the intake and try to find a good organic product, to avoid chemicals and antibiotics.
• Try to put more vegetables (organic better) in your diet.
*** for my dutch friends, I know you love milk very much, but maybe drinking milk or cappuccino's with your food is not the best for your digestion.
*** for my english friend, adding custard cream everywhere is not the best either (THIS IS A JOKE, don't take me seriously…).
This is serious though…
• Try to put love in every food you eat, being grateful to all that allowed that food to be on your plate and enjoy! Oxytocin is the best hormone for feeling great and happy, when we eat in company, good food and good laughter make your digestion a very great way to Celebrate Life!
Just back from a wonderful Self Care Retreat in Italy and my womb is full of energy, love and new comprehensions. It is so nice to see the faces of the Self Care Lovers the first day and than the joy in their eyes the moment they leave, wise and profound changes happen and you can only be humble in front of such magnificent energy. As a professional I have been wondering many times how can such a sweet, non-invasive massage produce so many effects, so simple yet so strong, how could it be? For me that struggle was a daily breakfast, to induce such a change with a simple touch was the most amazing lesson I could ever learn, but there is more.
This lovely treatment has centuries of history, the Maya of Central America, in fact, have treated the reproductive and digestive systems in combination with abdominal massage, realignment techniques, herbal preparations and prayer. So the nice, sweet touch has a huge history of wisdom that is now passing from Dr. Rosita Arvigo in our hands, and in your hands whenever you do your Self Care!
If you are in a Fertility Journey, may it be IVF, may it be just your will of enhancing your health before conceiving, may it be that you are trying and trying and trying and nothing happens, but you are completely healthy, you might want to explore an aspect that blow away my mind when I was told about... The Uterus moves in the abdomen and sometimes the position she assumes are not the best for our reproductive health... THE UTERUS CAN MOVE???? Yes, indeed.
The uterus need space in order to grow and shrink every month. During the last week before the bleeding the Uterus become double in size and weight. This is why most of us feel heavier and bloated. The cavity is designed to have some space in the front and in the back to allow such a change. Everything is kept in position with many ligaments that work every day to keep this status. During our life, though, many things can happen: falls, injuries, pregnancies, traumas, which could be immediately taken care of, if this practice would be common knowledge. So sometimes ligaments stretch and the uterus might change position, sometimes something really mild, sometimes something more. Many symptoms that women consider normal, are in fact the attempt of our belly to talk to us and advice that there is something that needs to be taken care of. Fertility issues can sometimes be symptoms.
