Your Happiness is in Your Gut! How to keep the flow of your happy hormones ;)How many times you have been told not to search for your happiness outside, in fact to deeply search for it inside yourself? I personally have never guessed though that inside would have meant 'look in your gut'... in my life I have been looking for happiness everywhere, I have studied so much, went to all sort of therapies, from bodywork to deep meditation... of course everything had made me the person I am now, and I am very happy about all that I have done and studied, but that feeling of deep contentment was not really there... Even if apparently the life of some people seems perfect, deep down not many people can claim to be really satisfied, in fact that deep state of 'mind' is something beyond any appearance. Than I received my first Arvigo treatment, I participate to a Self Care Workshop, and I became an Arvigo Practitioner and finally in a little time I started feeling happier... and made some major changes in my life that were waiting and waiting forever... what made me so strong and satisfied to just move change whatever I didn't like in my life? Well the answer is in my gut! As well is in yours! Many cultures have a deep knowledge about the importance of keeping your digestion healthy and many teachers talks about the gut as the 'Second Brain' but now there are many researches and several books that are deeply describing the importance of your intestine in order to keep yourself healthy and happy.
Here some bits of an interesting article ( you can find clicking here ) that is explaining how our 'second brain' can generate a complete different scenario in our life:
"A deeper understanding of this mass of neural tissue, filled with important neurotransmitters, is revealing that it does much more than merely handle digestion or inflict the occasional nervous pang. The little brain in our innards, in connection with the big one in our skulls, partly determines our mental state and plays key roles in certain diseases throughout the body.
...Technically known as the enteric nervous system, the second brain consists of sheaths of neurons embedded in the walls of the long tube of our gut, or alimentary canal, which measures about nine meters end to end from the esophagus to the anus. The second brain contains some 100 million neurons, more than in either the spinal cord or the peripheral nervous system, Gershon says. This multitude of neurons in the enteric nervous system enables us to "feel" the inner world of our gut and its contents.
... For example, scientists were shocked to learn that about 90 percent of the fibers in the primary visceral nerve, the vagus, carry information from the gut to the brain and not the other way around.
...The second brain informs our state of mind in other more obscure ways, as well. "A big part of our emotions are probably influenced by the nerves in our gut," Mayer says. Butterflies in the stomach—signaling in the gut as part of our physiological stress response, Gershon says—is but one example... The enteric nervous system uses more than 30 neurotransmitters, just like the brain, and in fact 95 percent of the body's serotonin is found in the bowels...Scientists are learning that the serotonin made by the enteric nervous system might also play a role in more surprising diseases...".
